If you are from Central Phoenix, there's no doubt you've at least heard of Lux. This hipster haven is now aptly named. This is coffee luxury. I'll have an iced americano, no room, thanks. Apparently ice and espresso in the same cup is against all barista doctrine, but I prefer my americano's iced. And, when feeling indulgent, which is most all of the time, I like a conservative amount of whipped cream to float atop. TIP #1: Sub cream/milk & sugar for whipped cream. Save a step. The thing about Lux, is they have the Best whipped cream ever tasted. It's hand whipped, coffee flavored cream, with perfect peaks and 10 minute-thawed ice cream texture. Oh man, it's so good. And so so luscious partially mixed into my quad-shot, iced americano.
But, it's not all about the coffee, not to say that there medium roast beans aren't top notch, because they are. But, now they have 5+ rooms dedicated to lounging, I mean studying and reading. There are, at minimum 50 seats in the place, where most pop in there earbuds and open up their book or laptop and get in the zone. It's the perfect setting. It's typical coffee shop-sounding, but it's in no way run of the mill. Also, because there's a bar here too! What? Yes, a bar! But, there's no cocktail menu. This is the land of improv bartenders, just tell them what flavors you enjoy and boom, a custom martini. I'm a vodka, lemon, basil-y type gal, and wow, the product did not disappoint.
Just GO! and spend the day with the rotating, eclectic crowd.
